Film 4 Justice: Join The Movement!
So excited to announce my new campaign "Film 4 Justice" where filmmakers, film writers/critics, and film lovers use movies to advocate for social justice.
In light of the recent events in Ferguson, MO, my goal is to further the conversation about the various social issues that plague our nation. Topics can include: racism, sexism/misogyny, LGBTQ themes, body image issues, class, and labor issues. Here are some ways to join in:
1. Follow on Twitter: @Film4Justice
2. Host a live tweet discussing your fave social justice film. Ideally, give your followers a few days notice if movie isn't on livestream, so they can purchase DVD in advance. Also, use #Film4Justice hashtag during your live tweet and Storify to send out afterwards.
3. Create a video and discuss how a particular movie impacted you and your view of the world. Try to keep it succinct (5-6 minutes is ideal) and tweet out to @Film4Justice
4. Instagram- post a screenshot or pic of social justice movie with a caption explaining why you loved (or hated) this movie and tag me: @filmfatale_nyc. And yes, hashtag #Film4Justice when you post.
5. Replace your avi with "Film 4 Justice" avi:
I'll be hosting our first live tweet along with Cinema in Noir team Tuesday August, 26th 9PM EST. Follow @film4justice for further info.
Please spread the word and thank you!

Great idea, ReBecca! And right up my alley! How about also supporting New Work by writers and filmmakers around social justice? I'm writing in that vein (i.e. screenplay about ultra violent border patrol). We need to keep the new work brewing...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! If you have any contacts or who I should talk to, please let me know!
DeleteMaybe you can find out why there are no purple people in "The Color Purple"!

ReplyDeleteNO Asians on the Orient Express? Hmmmm. Did you expect them?
ReplyDeleteRe: Murder on the Orient Express. Since you've locked down your Twitter account, I ought I'd stop by and say...Bwahahahahaha! Idiot!
ReplyDeleteThanks for speaking Truth to Power. Same problem in that movie Forrest Gump. Can you believe it? No trees! And the movie is called "Forrest Gump"!! Unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteApparently film for justice involves complaining about the lack of Asians in a movie about a murder on a French Train going to Turkey in the 1930's
ReplyDeleteOf course I'd say this on twitter if you didn't cut and run
